Parliament starts for the year
NZ Politics

Well, the summer break is over and Parliament gets back into business today, starting with the Prime Minister's statement outlining the government's plans for the coming year. This is a 14 hour debate, not including the statement itself which has no time limit, so will keep the House busy for most of the week, particularly once question time and potential urgent debates start tomorrow. It is of course the first chance this year for the government to test it's support in the House (the debate starts with a motion moved by the Leader of the Opposition, and it is always a motion of no-confidence in the government), but given the clear committements from NZ First and United Future, that won't be an issue (at least yet).

Hopefully the Prime Minister will announce today some clear plans to improve the Telecom/broadband situation, but I think it will be rather waffly.
