This site, like many other blogs has an RSS feed available. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a method of allowing people to be notified when a website is changed, without the need to manually check the site itself regularly. It allows someone to monitor changes on a large number of websites without having to explicitly visit any of those sites themselves.
Basically a site offering an RSS feed provides an XML file on the website containing a summary of recent posts. Feed readers are used to read these XML files and automatically indicate when they change. There are a large number of RSS feed readers available, both web-based, and fat-client based.
Personally, I use Awasu to monitor about 30 different websites, some of which are updated very regularly (multiple times a day), and some of which are only updated about once a month.
For more information about RSS, see Wikipedia's article, or this primer.
