Reducing the number of MPs
NZ Politics

Barbara Stewart's bill to reduce the number of MPs comes up for debate this afternoon in Parliament, and looks set to pass its first reading with, National, New Zealand First, the Maori Party, and ACT all supporting it.

I have stated previously why I disagree with it, but it definately makes good political sense for the opposition to support this to a select committee. First of all, it actually allows the issue to be debated (possibly with the conclusion that we need more MPs), and secondly, it embarasses Labour somewhat as it is clearly shown that they do not have full control of Parliament this term - their poodles occasionally decide to act differently.
