There is a massive waiting list for state houses at present (partially due to Labour policy which favours them over private landlords), with most on the list bringing in less than $15,000 per year.
Housing Minister Chris Carter is blaming this on the "bad" housing policies of National in the 1990s. What rubbish. Labour has been in power for 7 years now - you can't still be blaming things like this on the previous government. Especially as Rodney Hide points out, National didn't subsidise state housing like Labour does - they subsidised the income instead, meaning that you got the benefit of it regardless of whether your landlord was the state or a private citizen.[pP]>abbywinters.com free
