David Parker won't be prosecuted
NZ Politics

The Companies Office has today announced that former cabinet Minister David Parker will not be prosecuted for filing false returns. The Crown Solicitor said that there was no basis whatsoever for a prosecution for filing a false or misleading statement, and although there may have been some minor matters relating to the maintenance of company records, they did not warrant a criminal prosecution.

It is widely expected that he will be re-instated to Cabinet next week.

I have not read the Crown Solicitor's report yet, but this seems very surprising given the prior evidence and David Parker's comments when the allegations arose, which seemed to indicate that they were definitely true. I more expected them to find that there was a prima facie case, but it was not in the public interest to prosecute.
