Unsurprisingly, Malcolm Kendall-Smith has been found guilty at his court martial and has been sentenced to 8 months in jail, presumably followed by a dishonourable discharge from the Royal Air Force.
The judge specifically commented on the fact that as a volunteer, he had the option to resign if he didn't want to go to Iraq, and make his feelings known then. Instead he decided to continue drawing his pay and stay in the Royal Air Force.
There was no other possible decision for the judge to reach here.
