Organ Donor Bill Passes First Reading
NZ Politics

Jackie Blue's Organ Donor Bill passed its first reading in Parliament on Wednesday, and has been sent to a select committee. This is great - while the bill may require a few tweaks, it is definitely a good idea and I hope it passes relatively intact.

Pete Hodgson said that an Organ Donor register is government policy as well, and they intend to introduce a government bill on the topic later in the year. Well, if this will do the same as Jackie Blue's bill, then great - a government bill is likely to be passed much more quickly. However, I hope that they aren't trying to water it down under the guise of speeding up its progress.
