Wellington Zoo hires out cheetahs
New Zealand

Sutff reports that Wellington Zoo is hiring out its pair of cheetahs for events - obviously under controlled circumstances. A few animal rights activists are rather upset about this, claiming that the Zoo is putting money ahead of animal welfare. The Zoo claims that it provides good stimulation for the cheetahs, and provides a good opportunity to talk about conservation.

Being a huge fan of big cats, I am very happy for them to be out and about at various events. Now, how to convince my wife that we need them at our next party...
