Paihia and Kerikeri
Blog

So after heading up to the Cape last Sunday, we spent Monday driving around the Bay of Islands area having a look around (and checking that the vineyards were of adequate quality...). The weather was fairly crap, thus limiting us a bit, but we still had a great time.divx converter code activation

First of all we went to Waitangi. I had been previously, but that was over 10 years ago now. It was fairly interesting, especially as one of my ancestors was heavily involved (more on that later). We looked at the big waka and Treaty House. Unfortunately part of the Treaty House was undergoing repairs when we were there, limiting how much we could see of it.divx converter code activation

And of course I had to try a panoramic version of it as well.divx converter code activation

Just down from the Waka is Hobson's Beach, where Captain Hobson landed before heading up to the Treaty House (which was then the home of British Resident James Busby).divx converter code activation

From Waitangi, we went passed the Haruru falls, which despite what we had heard about them, weren't terribly impressive.divx converter code activation

We then drove onto Kerikeri for the obligatory look at the Stone Store, the oldest building still standing in the country.divx converter code activation

And the mission station standing next to it.divx converter code activation

Finally we went to take a look at Rainbow falls near Kerikeri. In constrast the Haruru falls, it was fairly cool (and loud).divx converter code activation

And here's me attempting an arty shot.divx converter code activation
