So on Sunday we did a trip up to Cape Reinga from Paihia with the Dune Rider people. It starts in Paihia, and first stop (after hunting around for 1/2 hour for some people who got lost) was the Puketi Forest to look at some massive Kauri trees.

Next we went up to 90-mile beach, and got drive the length of it in a big 4x4 (including some cross country driving looking for the wild horses). It's fairly impressive. This photo was taken from near the north end of the beach.

Lunch was at Tapotupotu Bay, just to the East of Cape Reinga, and then we went up to the Cape itself. This is the lighthouse at Cape Reinga.

This is Cape Reinga itself.

This is looking towards North Cape from Cape Reinga. The closer peninsula is the end of Spirits Bay, and the second is North Cape.
