New and Old Directions
Blog

As I mentioned yesterday, I'm hoping that the blogging will be increasing significantly now that we've moved into our apartment and I have internet access. It seems that now is a good time to reflect on the direction of this blog given that my circumstances have changed somewhat.

I created my website back in mid 2001 initially as a reference site for the seminars I gave at Summer Wine predominantly on apologetics and bible study. It then grew into a blog mainly about apologetics and theological issues which I actively posted to for a year or so before getting too busy.

It's present incarnation was revived about 12 months ago when I decided that too busy or not, this is something that I wanted to do. Of course by then I had got involved in politics, and so the focus of the blog is split between theological and political issues (generally). As the political posts are much easier to write, they tend to be much more frequent, but I still try to write a long theological article every so often.

So how are things likely to change?

Well, first of all, I now live in Australia, with no present intention of ever returning to live in New Zealand. However, I am still very interested in the current political environment in New Zealand, and so will continue to comment on it for some time anyway - online papers and other blogs are brilliant for this.

Secondly, I intend over time to get involved in Australian politics (unlikely as a politician as AFAIK I would need to renounce NZ citizenship to become a federal MP or Senator), and so will be commenting on political matters here as well. All the more so as there is a federal election later this year, which could possibly see a change of government.

Thirdly, I intend to continue writing about theology and apologetics as I can. There are a number of topics I want to address and open for comments, and so I hope and pray that I have apple time to dedicate to this.

Finally, I want to spend some time responding to a number of comments that have been made on this site over the last few months. Some of them are very thoughtfully written and deserve a similar response - I apologise that it has taken so long, but the lack of an internet connection has made it rather difficult.

So, at present the blog is really just going to increase its scope a little for now, and we'll see where the future takes us.
